How to Incorporate a Business or LLC in Louisiana

As business owner in Louisiana, you can understand how difficult following regulations and incorporating your business can be.  While there are many websites out there that can do everything for you, preparing your own legal documents and filing your articles of organization yourself can benefit you in many ways, not to mention it will save you hundreds of dollars in the process.  These websites claim to provide a one-stop solution to registering your business or LLC, and they seem to be getting quite a lot of business.  The only issue with these legal registration and form websites is that they claim to offer these services for extremely low prices, but when it comes time to check out and make a purchase, that "$79 Business Registration" they got your attention with, has suddenly turned into a $600 waste of your time.  The price they are advertising is actually the fee they charge for the type of business you want to register.  This fee does not cover costs associated with the state or federal registration, and they will charge you additional fees for numerous different things.

If you're looking to incorporate, you could spend hundreds using online document prep or do it yourself.  Fortunatly, the Lousiana Secretary of States Office launched GeauxBiz.com to help Louisiana business owners become legal business owners themselves.  The website is full of tips, information and updates to inform you of new regulations and provides links and info on incorporating your business.

They provide a business checklist, which is in PDF format online that you fill out.  Once you've filled out the checklist and submit it, their office will respond to you by mail with a complete checklist of everything you'll need to do to incorporate including a list of all departments and state organizations you will need to contact.  The list is customized to your specific needs and your targeted industry.

If your the type of business owner who enjoys handling your own business, or if you need to incorporate without spending hundreds of dollars to hire a document prep agency or lawyer, check out GeauxBiz.com for a great, FREE resource.
