Of all the industries you could try and make a career in, the music industry has to be the most competitive.  With trends changing monthly, the chance to make it big seems to slip through every artist's fingers.  With the music industry being an impossible dream for most, many artists have kept the underground, working their local markets and thriving.  Many artists have started their own cult followings and Ernesto "The Owner" Edwards of Kansas City is no different.  As a young man from Philly, he was transplanted from his home and moved to Kansas.  With the help of his older brother he found his calling, and realized his potential as a recording artist.

Ernesto started living his dream in high school, freestyling in the hallways and impressing his friends with his talent.  That talent would soon become less of a hobby and more of a career for Nesto as he graduated and began gathering a small following of loyal fans.  Through hard work and dedication to his craft, Nesto is taking Kansas City's music scene by storm, opening for major recording artists and performing for crowds of fans in bars and clubs all over Kansas City.

We asked Nesto if he would share his knowledge of the local industry, and a few aspect of his journey to local super-stardom as part of our "Share The Experience: Interviews with Business Owners" series.  While Nesto is not what you would consider a traditional business owner in most aspects, his ability to develop and market himself as a brand gives valuable lessons in brand development and networking.
